What is a Schengen Visa?

You may be quite unfamiliar with the term Schengen Visa, but it is a travel visa for 26 European countries. Simply put, these 26 European countries will use the same visa, and as long as one of the 26 countries on this list agrees to grant you a visa, it means the remaining 25 countries are wide open for your visit.

However, there are some notes about applying for a visa as follows

  • If you are only visiting one country, you only need to apply for a visa from that country.
  • If you are visiting 2 or more countries, you must apply for a visa from the country where you will stay the longest. If the duration of stay in the countries is equal, you must apply for a visa from the country you visit first.
Usually, people will visit multiple European countries because these countries are close to each other. Just like the provinces in Vietnam.
  • For example, you plan to go to France, Germany, Italy and will fly to France first.
  • If you are staying in Italy the longest, you must go to the Italian Embassy/Consulate to apply for a Schengen visa.
  • If the duration of stay in the three countries is the same, you must go to the French Embassy/Consulate to apply for a European visa.
For my recent trip to Europe, I applied for a European visa at TLSContact – the official authorized representative of the French Embassy/Consulate in Vietnam, specializing in receiving, collecting fees, and returning passports for European visa applicants.

Fill out the visa application form to submit your application

There are many ways for you to get a complete visa application form. The first way is to go to the embassy to get the form and fill it all out. Or you can go to websites to download the template and fill in all the information. A point worth noting is that you must fill in all information carefully and completely, and you must write correctly and completely without leaving any fields marked with (*). My recent experience applying for a European visa shows that before submitting your application, the receptionist will check this declaration form one last time and only help with necessary corrections.
